“Tis a terrible long time ago…” The concertina music of Connie Hogan from Woodford, Co. Galway

In its continuing Notes and Narratives series, Na Píobairí Uilleann presents a talk by Claire Keville on Connie Hogan, a forgotten hero of Irish concertina playing, is a chance for new audiences to discover his music and its connection to Gorteeney, near Woodford in South East Galway. The talk will feature recordings dating from the 1950s and 1960s along with contributions from family members and people who knew him – including accordionist Teresa Conroy Smullen.
