Taught by the great Limerick piper, Mickey Dunne, Blackie O’Connell is gifted with an exuberant fast flowing style of uilleann piping that sees him regularly tour Europe, the USA and Asia as a working musician. Blackie is also the piping tutor at the Irish World Music Academy at the University of Limerick and his piping is influenced by the likes of Paddy Keenan, Finbar Furey and the great Johnny Doran. When he’s not touring, Blackie can be found leading sessions in his home town of Ennis or nearby Doolin. For Dinny 2022, Blackie will be joined by his regular collaborators: singer Geraldine McGowan and bouzouki maestro Cyril O’Donoghue.
