Over a hundred young musicians from across Ireland showcase their dynamic take on traditional music. The Harp Collective featuring musicians from Music Generation in Louth, Laois and Mayo, will premier new work from Michael Rooney.The programme will also include special arrangements from his works performed by Laois Trad Orchestra.

Louth’s Folk Orchestra, Nós Nua – another Music Generation initiative in conjunction with Comhaltas – brings together young musicians from across Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Armagh to perform Causeway, a suite of new music with the award-winning Scottish concertina virtuoso Mohsen Amini (of the acclaimed bands, Ímar and Talisk). Music Generation Mayo’s Harp Collective will take audiences on a thrilling journey of unique traditional arrangements.

Harper, Donnchadh MacAodh, will be joined by young rap artists from The Kabin in Cork for their urban approach to new and traditional music.

This programme is presented by Rosa Flannery, Siobhán Buckley, Deirdre Ní Bhuachalla, Gráinne Hambly, Kay Webster and William Jackson with special thanks to Michael Rooney, Donnchadh MacAodh, and Garry McCarthy.

Created with the support of Harp Ireland, Reachtaire Oriel Centre, The Kabin Studio, Dundalk Gaol, Music Generation National Development Office, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Regional Centre and The Arts Council.
