Event Details

The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with a performance of two of the most popular orchestral works fusing Irish traditional music with the symphonic sound: Shaun Davey’s atmospheric and powerfully moving musical drama The Brendan Voyage, vividly depicting St. Brendan’s transatlantic crossing from Ireland to the New World in a leather boat, and Granuaile, Davey’s ‘wild and magnificent’ (The Observer) song cycle of love, loss and defiance based on the life of Grace O’Malley, the 16th century Irish seafaring chieftain, which includes the popular classic Ripples in the Rockpools.

The NSO will be conducted by David Brophy, with the following featured performers Rita Connolly and Shaun Davey (vocals), Mark Redmond (uilleann pipes), Donal Lunny (guitar), Séamus Ó Flaherta (harp) and Noel Eccles (percussion).

Tickets, costing from €19 to €45, are available from the NCH Box Office at https://www.nch.ie/Online/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=NSO-Shaun-Davey-17Mar22&BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=
