Event Details

Fiddler Paddy Glackin is joined by uilleann piper and cellist, Neil Martin, and pianist Ryan Molloy in this concert for the Baltimore Fiddle Fair.
Among the most accomplished fiddle players of his generation Paddy Glackin acknowledges the influence of musicians like John Doherty, Tommie Potts, Padraig O’ Keefe among others in helping to shape his own musical imagination. Paddy was a founding member of The Bothy Band, along with solo releases he has recorded duet albums with pipers Paddy Keenan, Robbie Hannan and Liam O’Flynn. Along with Donal Lunny, Andy Irvine, Mike McGoldrick and John Doyle, Paddy is a member of the band Usher’s Island.
Neil Martin is a composer and performer whose deep knowledge and understanding of traditional music informs his own compositions. As a cello player he forms part of the critically acclaimed West Ocean String Quartet. Neil regularly performs with Paddy Glackin.
Ryan Molloy is in great demand as an accompanist having recorded over a dozen album. His repertoire spans different genres from traditional Irish music to contemporary classical music. Ryan also lectures in composition at Maynooth University.
Supporting the Irish trio will be the Guro Kvifte Nesheim Trio – led by the award-winning Norwegian folk musician, Guro Kvifte Nesheim (pictured below), on hardanger fiddle and hardanger d’amore. Her love of fiddle music extends beyond the border to encompass the rich fiddle tradition of Sweden. Since graduating from the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden, she has worked with a variety of ensembles in Sweden and Norway. Her band GKN5 released their debut album, Bestastove, in 2018 and since then, despite the pandemic, they have managed to continue performing around Scandinavia. Along with her band GKN5 Guro has recently performed with Ale Moller, Anni Noksasp Ensemble and the band Groupa. This will be her début in Ireland.
