Lisa O’Neill from Ballyhaise in Co. Cavan is a songwriter like no other. Her roots may be sourced in folk and traditional music but her work combining re-imagined classics as well as her own original compositions opens up a landscape beyond any settled sense of genre. O’Neill won Best Original Folk Track with Rock the Machine (from her album Heard a Long Gone Song) at the 2019 RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards, and also received nominations for Folk Singer of the Year, Best Traditional Track, Best Original Track and Best Album at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in the same year.
