This gala concert will feature performances by the trio of Charlie Harris, Maeve Donnelly and Geraldine Cotter (pictured above); the exciting duo of Lisa O’Neill and Cormac Begley; and Dónal, Melanie and Eoin Murphy with Steve Cooney.

Accordionist Charlie Harris is a fine exponent of the South Galway style of music, influenced by the playing of Joe Cooley. He is also a member of the Tulla Céilí Band. He will be performing with Maeve Donnelly, a fiddler with a unique style and Geraldine Cotter on piano and tin-whistle.

Cormac Begley is a bass, baritone, treble and piccolo concertina player who hails from the infamous Begley family on the Dingle Peninsula. His recent solo album ‘B’ explores the sounds of the Bass and Baritone concertina range.  Cormac will be joined by singer and songwriter, Lisa O’Neill from Cavan whose unique and distinctive voice has been acclaimed both nationally and internationally with multiple nominations at both the RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards and the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Dónal Murphy from Abbeyfeale in County Limerick is one of Ireland’s most highly regarded accordion players. A founding member of the band, Four Men and a Dog, and most recently Breaking Trad, he recently launched his album, Tailored. Dónal will joined by his daughter, Melanie, on fiddle and son, Eoin, on guitar.

They will be accompanied by Australian-born guitarist, bassist, producer and didgeridoo player, Steve Cooney. Renowned as a remarkably sympathetic accompanist for an array of traditional virtuosi, he has achieved a burgeoning reputation as an an arranger and a composer, securing the TG4 Gradam Ceoil as Composer of the Year in 2021.
