Event Details

Dublin-born traditional singer and bouzouki player Daoirí (pronounced ‘Derry’) Farrell has been as one of most important singers to come out of Ireland in recent years.

His acclaimed album, True Born Irishman, released in October 2016, led to three nominations at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2017 and two wins – for Best Traditional Track for Van Diemen’s Land from True Born Irishman and for Best Newcomer.

His next album, A Lifetime Of Happiness, produced by Dónal Lunny was released in February 2019 to renewed acclaim from the traditional music press.

‘Just occasionally you come across a singer so talented, so natural, that you feel you might as well give it all up and just listen in awe. Such a one is Daoirí Farrell….You may notice there’s no criticism in this review.’ Living Tradition

Three more award nominations followed – this time from the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards in 2019 for Best Singer, Best Traditional Track and Best Album..

Daoirí is currently working on a new album with Trevor Hutchinson of Lúnasa and the Waterboys.
