Clann Uí Raghallaigh come from Rathmolyon Co. Meath. Three generations of musicians will perform at this concert. Mícheál, Nóra, Áine and Macdara Ó Raghallaigh will be joined by their parents Máire and Pádraig and by the musicians of the next generation of the family, playing their own distinctive style of Irish traditional music.
The Kinsella Family embarked on their first musical journey in 1977 with a music class with Carrig Teabhra Branch on Comhaltas near Gorey in Co. Wexford. Jim Kinsella was involved in the formation of the branch. Soon his children Padraig, David, Dorothy, Bridget and James were enrolled. They competed in their first Fleadh in New Ross in 1979.
Some years later the family moved to the midlands. They soon found music classes in Moneygall, Co. Offaly with an inspirational music teacher, Paddy O’Brien from Nenagh. Along with the first five children, Aoife, Sinead and Helena started their musical journey from here.
Every year the annual pilgrimage was made to the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil ,were they camped with their competitors in the local camp sites. Great friendships were formed amongst their rival competitors and still to this day, this is how the next generation of Kinsella’s are meeting fellow musicians.
Padraig, David and James have All Ireland titles in the button accordion and uilleann pipes.
