Event Details

Multi-award winning trio, Alfi comprises Alannah Thornburgh on harp and vocals; Fiachra Meek on uilleann pipes, low whistles, bodhran and vocals; and Ryan McAuley on banjo and vocals.

Alfi combine traditional Irish and Appalachian music and song to produce a unique and tasteful sound. Their music features an unusual line-up of harp, five string banjo and uilleann pipes. The trio have been nominated in the ‘Best Emerging Artist’ category at the 2019 RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards and also won the Molloy Award at the Trip to Birmingham TradFest in 2018 and the Caoimhín Ó Dochartaigh Award at the Imbolc International Music Festival in Derry in 2019. In May 2019, Alfi released their debut EP, Wolves in the Woods, to much critical acclaim. Guests at the last fully ‘in-person’ Fleadh in Drogheda in 2019, the band’s gathering momentum was halted by the pandemic. Alfi plan to release their debut album this year.
