Event Details
Originally from Cavan, Lisa O’Neill was well known and admired in the folk clubs and singing circles of Dublin before her debut record release, Has an Album, in 2009. was followed in 2015 by Same Cloth or Not which was nominated for the Choice Music Prize. Her third album, Pothole in the Sky, was released in 2016 to further critical acclaim – building her reputation as a unique voice with an original perspective in terms of her own compositions and her arrangements of traditional material.
Since the release of her album, Heard A Long Gone Song in 2018, Lisa has begun to achieve wider recognition as one of the leading figures among the rising generation of folk and traditional artists in Ireland. This album for River Lea resulted in another nomination for a Choice Music Prize as well as the accolade of The Guardian newspaper’s choice as best folk album of 2019. Lisa and the album went on to garner nominations in four categories at the 2019 BBC Radio 2 Folk awards and in five categories at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk awards, scoring a win for Best Original Folk Song.
Lisa is currently working on her next album with an expected release later this year.
Also anticipating an album release this year is Clare Sands, a sixth generation fiddler, multi-instrumentalist and bilingual singer. Creating boundary breaking fearless folk music – inspired by her travels around Ireland and the world – Clare’s new recording project aims to explore tradition, the sea, and the power of women through the dark and light, love and loss, rise and fall.
As a live performer, Clare has played at Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Glastonbury Festival, the International Folk Alliance Convention in the US and the Irish Arts Center in New York – with an electrifying combination of fiddle, guitar, percussion, live electronics and vocals.
She has collaborated with a range of performers including Hothouse Flowers, Kíla, Imelda May and Mary Coughlan. During 2021 she developed a unique project Tírdhreacha agus Fuaimdhreacha in collaboration with Susan O’Neill, Steve Cooney, Tommy Sands, Brídín and Liam Ó Maonlaí.
Doors open at 7.30pm.

Event Details
Niamh Regan is a critically acclaimed songwriter from county Galway. Released amid the pandemic in 2020, her debut album, Hemet, announced her arrival as one of the most distinctive songwriters in Ireland today. The album received nominations for both the RTE Folk Awards’ and the Choice Awards’ Album of the Year.
Following her studies in flute and guitar in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, at the University of Limerick, Regan honed her craft as a songwriter by travelling between Ireland and California, writing about her experiences along the way. As a result, her songs seamlessly weave the intimacy of the Irish lyrical tradition with the expansive breadth of American songwriters such as Karen Dalton, Stevie Nicks, and Joni Mitchell, but the resulting sound is entirely her own.
A natural storyteller, Regan’s songs are windows into her world, snapshots of the intimacy of everyday life. This is evident on her latest EP, In the Meantime, which was generously supported by the Galway International Arts Festival Elevate Bursary. The EP is a collection of songs written during the challenges of the pandemic, exploring themes of acceptance, uncertainty, independence, family guilt, silence, and ordinary acts of love. With her singular mastery, Regan’s songwriting draws us into the intricate details of everyday life and elevates them into something universal.
Brigid Mae Power’s songs are like an overheard lament she paints expansive and effortless songs that are hypnotic and folk orientated. She released her acclaimed new third album, Head Above The Water, earlier this year.
The album features an amalgam of traditional folk and country – blending strings, bouzouki, piano and Power’s distinctive vocals.
Doors open at 7.30pm.
