Frank Harte Festival online again in September

The Bonny Men

The annual Frank Harte Festival – organised by An Góilín Singers in Dublin – will again be an online event in light of the continuing difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the indefatigable organising committee has managed to put together an impressive line-up of guest artists for the festival’s grand concert – most of whom will also contribute to other elements of the programme.

Con Fada Ó Drisceóil

Headlined by the Bonny Men, the concert will also feature Con Fada Ó Drisceóil, Barbara Dymock, Bláithín Mhic Cana, Donie Nolan, Rosie Davis and Frank Harte’s granddaughter, Siobhán Harte.

As well as the concert, the festival programme includes three singing sessions, a singing workshop, an interview with a special guest and a singing and walking tour. All of the events on the programme will be accessible to viewers on the Frank Harte Festival’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Would-be performers at the Friday evening singing session will be facilitated over the Zoom platform. The Saturday afternoon session will be a blended ‘room and Zoom session’ with online participants contributing alongside a limited of number of socially distanced performers in the room at Dublin’s Teachers’ Club. The final singing session on Sunday afternoon will be a socially distanced live event in the Teachers’ Club. As capacity – live and online – is necessarily limited, all places must be booked in advance.
